It’s so much fun to bring your new puppy home and begin to train them to be great companions. However, it can be daunting to pick up the back of the treat package and not recognize the ingredients in the treats we are giving them. We try to take care of ourselves and stay healthy, so why wouldn’t we want the same for our best companions? We have two healthy and tasty puppy treats that are great store-bought alternatives and are surely puppy approved! Peanut Butter Puppy Treat
Yum! Puppies love peanut butter! These treats have high protein, healthy fats, and great flavor! We use natural one ingredient peanut butter with no added salt or sugar.
1 Egg
1/3 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
1 Banana (mashed)
It’s that simple! Mash together, and if needed add sprinkles of flower until the dough is no longer sticky. Roll out ½ inch thick and cut into small, treat size shapes! We used hearts and stars! Bake at 350°F until golden brown, about 8-12 minutes.
Cheesy Tuna Treats
This homemade dog treat is great option because tuna provides dense nutrients and is packed with flavor, Omega 3 fats and packed with protein!
3 cups Whole Wheat Flour
3 TBS Grated Cheese (Parmesan or Cheddar work well!)
1 5oz can Tuna in Water
1 large Carrot, Shredded
2 Eggs
Mix together and if dough is too sticky, add sprinkles of flour until dough is no longer sticky. Roll out the dough and about ½ inch thick and cut into fun shapes. Bake at 350°F until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
We really enjoy these two simple, fun, and healthy dog treats! We hope your furry pup will love them too! Do you have any fun DIY treat ideas your furry friend absolutely loves?
